When AlgiStraw is allowed to breakdown in your pond, natural chemicals and micro-organisms are produced, which inhibit the growth of algae. Research has shown that blanketweed in particular is controlled by AlgiStraw, however suspended algae may also be reduced.
AlgiStraw's wide, flat design pouch and finely chopped straw gives it the maximum surface area possible, thus ensuring maximum algicidal activity. Multiple bag perforations allow water and oxygen to freely flow through - guaranteeing excellent biological and chemical activity.
AlgiStraw takes between 2-4 weeks to become active depending on water temperature. Once it has become active it will work for a period of up to 3 months, after this point the mat must be removed. For continuous protection add a further mat approximately 1 month before removing the first mat.
