SYMPTOMS
20. Very elongated worm Parasite is brown / black and very large (1 to 5 cm in length). Typically, the fish sustains one or a few parasites but ocassionally heavy infestations. Parasite moves by looping action. In the abscence of attached parasites, their red circular bite-marks on the fish's body may be the only tell-tale signs. Parasites frequently encountered off the fish, usually on plants or substrate.

DISEASE
PISCICOLA FISH LEECH Feed on the blood of fish. Rarely life threatening, however the bite wounds are vulnerable to secondary infections.

TROPICAL & COLDWATER AQUARIA
Sometimes occur in coldwater aquaria, much rarer in tropical systems. Gently remove any attached leech using tweezers and treat the wound with MYXAZIN.

SEAWATER AND BRACKISHWATER
Not applicable

GARDEN PONDS
Carefully remove any attached leech using tweezers and treat the wound with MYXAZIN. In severe infestations, a total pond clear may be required. Treat the pond with STERAZIN P and PONDSAL.

FURTHER INFORMATION.
Never collect aquatic plants or submerged rocks from the wild as they may harbour leech eggs (=cocoons). Inspect live food cultures for the presence of leeches.
